Story

This may well be your most dangerous mission yet, Agent Midnight. But if that fiendish anti-satellite weapon is activated, global communication will be blotted out in an instant—and modernity with it! The free world is depending on you, now more than ever, as always.

Your objective will be to enter the volcano stronghold undetected and neutralize the Weltraumkönig laser array. The base is heavily guarded, and you should expect Dr. Teuflischewissenschaft to employ every measure at his disposal to stop you.

There's not a moment to waste. Godspeed, Max! For all our sakes...


Objective

Infiltrate Dr. Teuflischewissenschaft's secret volcano lair and disable his anti-satellite laser before you are detected.

You win when you have revealed 15 punch cards and the control panel.

You lose when you scratch off the exclamation point on any floor.

HINT: A mission like this one requires a cool head and a deliberate approach. Pay attention to these hints for important clues to help you win.


Instructions

Start the game on the top floor.

Each turn, scratch off a space on the current floor. What you reveal will determine what happens next.

HINT: If you scratch off any two adjacent spaces on the same floor, they will never reveal the same thing.

HINT: You have a list of the possibilities for each floor, so think before you scratch!


Punch Card

You’ve found some data that will help you shut down the laser! Scratch off a punch card in your inventory.


Door

You’ve found the door to the next floor!

When you are ready, you may move to the next floor below by scratching off a space on that floor instead of this one.

You do not have to move immediately, and may continue scratching off spaces on this floor until you are ready.

Once you do scratch off a space on the new floor, you may not scratch off any spaces on a previous floor.


Henchman

The first time you reveal a henchman, scratch off that floor’s question mark. The henchmen are suspicious.

The second time you reveal a henchman, scratch off that floor’s exclamation point. You lose the game.

Because each floor has its own question mark and exclamation point, moving to a new floor resets your "stealth level" to being completely undetected.


Security Robot

Security robots behave exactly the same as henchmen, but look much more menacing while they do so.


Secret Plans

Peek at a space on a different floor by scratching off the small rectangular “window” on the top of the space. This does not count as revealing the space.


Control Panel

When this and 15 punch cards have been revealed, you immediately win the game.


Mini-bar

Stop and enjoy a cocktail! (This has no effect.)


Gadgets

We know you'd prefer to go in there with nothing more than your wits, but the boys in the lab have cooked up a few new bits of kit to give you the edge.


Revolver

When you reveal a henchman, you may scratch off one of your six bullets instead of scratching off a question mark or exclamation point.

NOTE: You cannot use the revolver against security robots. (Those space-age materials shrug the bullets right off.)


Laser Pen

Instead of revealing your next square, you may scratch off the laser pen to cut a hole in the floor. You immediately move to the next floor as if you had found and used the door.

NOTE: You cannot use the laser pen on the bottom floor, since there's nothing below but a great deal of magma.


X-Ray Glasses

At any time, you may scratch off one of the two lenses of your X-ray glasses to peek at a space on the current floor by scratching off the small rectangular “window” on the top of the space. This does not count as revealing the space.

When you win the game, your score is based on the number of bullets you have remaining:
